Our Organization

Reading in the Friends Bookstore

Our Mission Statement

To support and promote the interests and activities of Englewood Charlotte Public Library. To raise funds to enhance the library’s collections, to provide quality programs and services for patrons of all ages and backgrounds, to encourage lifetime learning and good citizenship.

What We Do

The Friends support the Library by raising funds to expand the materials and programs that the library offers its patrons, and encouraging staff development.

The bookstore in the lobby stocks gently used current books for children and adults in all genres at affordable prices, as well as puzzles, tote bags, magazines, and other library related materials. The Friends staff the bookstore from 10 am - 4 pm Tuesday thru Friday, and 10 am - 1 pm on Saturdays.

The Friends also provide programs throughout the year for adults, teens, and children. Popular adult programs include Chef Warren’s cooking classes, the Great Decisions discussion group, and a knitting group.

Story times for children are highlighted at the Summer Reading Kickoff, a well attended program which includes hot dogs for all. The Friends encourage Staff Development by funding attendance at professional conferences and meetings. We also provide two $2,000 annual college scholarships for local students.

Join The Friends

The Friends are composed of members of our local community with an interest in the library. We encourage everybody to join the Friends and help support our library.
